Supported Tools

  • UCMCROPS is UC Merced’s official learning management system (Sakai) offers many tools for course content and delivery, including tools for assignments, resources, tests and quizzes, discussion forum, and many others.
  • WordPress is a popular blogging tool used for facilitating peer reviews, discussion forums, and showcasing work. The MWP-hosted version of WordPress, MWP Blog, is intended for faculty and administrative uses (e.g., course blogs). Faculty interested in having students use WordPress in their courses are encouraged to use the commercial version. Basic support (non-technical issues) is offered to faculty and students using both MWP and commerical versions.
  • PBWorks is a popular wiki tool use for online collaboration. As an instructor, you’ll need to get register for PBWorks site first, and then you can invite your students to join. Basic support (non-technical issues) is offered to faculty and students using PBWorks.
  • ReadyTalk and Adobe Connect are web-conferencing tool that allows faculty to convene class or office hours virtually. If you’re interested in using this tool, please contact Mike Truong to get account access.

  • MERLOT is a repository of Multimedia Educational resources for Learning and Online Teaching.  MERLOT’s Composition and Rhetoric Resources section has many useful teaching and learning resources that are ready to use for composition courses.
  • Directory of Learning Tools from the Center for Learning and Performance Technologies provides a plethora of learning tools that can be used in hybrid courses.
  • Rubrics for Assessment from University of Wisconsin, Stout provides a collection of rubrics for assessing portfolios, cooperative learning, research process/report, PowerPoint, podcast, oral presentation, web page, blog, wiki, and other web 2.0 projects.
